The Lectures Committee provides small grants to support departments, academic programs and student organizations in bringing distinguished lectures to the UW-Madison campus. These university-wide lectures are open to the public and enrich the general intellectual and cultural life of the university community.
The committee does not initiate lecture arrangements. It receives and acts on requests from eligible university groups that are interested in inviting outstanding speakers to the campus.
Lectures Committee funding is generously supplemented by The Anonymous Fund, the College of Letters and Science Jay C. and Ruth Halls Visiting Scholar Fund, Kemper K. Knapp Bequest, the William Fitch Scholarship Fund, and the Meiklejohn Fund.
