The Faculty Senate is the primary governance body for UW–Madison faculty and acts on behalf of the university’s entire faculty on matters of university-wide impact. The senate debates and votes on policies and resolutions, hears committee reports, and receives updates from campus leadership.
There are more than 100 districts in the Faculty Senate. Faculty senators are elected by their respective districts to serve three-year terms of office and represent their district’s opinion in the senate.
Meetings are held on the first Monday of the following months, from 3:30pm-5:30pm, in 272 Bascom Hall: October, November, December, February, March, April, and May. Special meetings may also be called.

Public Representation Organization of the Faculty Senate (PROFS)
PROFS is a voluntary, non-profit organization of UW–Madison faculty, formed by the Faculty Senate and supported by payroll contributions.
PROFS advocates on behalf of UW–Madison faculty before state legislators, the governor, the Board of Regents, members of Congress and the public.
