The Argument Against Quantum Computers
May 10 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
In this lecture, Professor Gil Kalai will introduce quantum computers and present an argument for why they are impossible. General principles for the behavior of noisy quantum systems will be derived through analysis. The recent announcements concerning “quantum computational supremacy,” which conflicts Professor Kalai’s theory, will also be briefly discussed.
The lecture is going to be self-contained, it is intended for a wide audience, and we assume no prior knowledge of quantum computers.
