Online Lecture: The Perpetuation of Stereotyping in Traditional and Emerging Media Environments

A University Lecture by Professor Travis Dixon. Professor Dixon has published pioneering studies on, among others, (1) racialization of crimes in local and cable TV news andits impact in perpetuating racial stereotyping and (2) the impact of racial stereotyping on police-civilian interactions in law-enforcing situations. His research speaks directly to the issues of systematic racism and helps students of diversebackgrounds understand the issues, including the complexity and urgency for change, raised by recent nation-wide anti-racism protests
